PROCEDURES PERFORMED

I am competently performing all index procedures required for general surgery certification with oesophagogastric special interest. Details of my operative experience in the last six years will be included in my logbook.

Examples of procedures I can perform:

General:

• Excision of skin subcutaneous lesions.
• Lymph node biopsy.
• Abdominal wall hernia repair (epigastric, umbilical, Spigelian, inguinal, femoral).
• Recurrent ventral abdominal wall hernia repair.
• Incisional hernia repair and abdominal wall reconstruction.
• Pilonidal sinus excision/flap reconstruction.

Emergency:

• Drainage of subcutaneous abscesses.
• Drainage of perianal/pilonidal abscesses, Rigid sigmoidoscopy.
• Laparoscopy/Laparotomy for peritonitis.
• Laparoscopy/Laparotomy for small or large bowel obstruction.
• Laparotomy for trauma.
• Small bowel resection, anastomosis +/- formation of ileostomy.
• Colectomy (right, segmental, left, sigmoid, subtotal).
• Hartman’s procedure.

Oesophago-gastric:

• Cholecystectomy (laparoscopic and open), intraoperative cholangiogram, intraoperative CBD ultrasound, bile duct exploration.
• Antireflux surgery (Nissen, Toupet fundoplication, gastropexy, gastrostomy).
• 2-stage Ivor Lewis oesophagectomy.
• 3-stage Mckeown oesophagectomy.
• Subtotal/Total Gastrectomy + D2 lymphadenectomy.
• Wedge resection of gastric GIST tumours.
• Placement/removal of feeding jejunostomy.
• Staging laparoscopy.
• Obesity – gastric bypass.
• Obesity – Sleeve gastrectomy.
• Removal of gastric band (slipped, eroded)
• Oesophago-gastro-duodenoscopy.

Coloproctology:

• Fistula-in-ano, laying open/insertion of seton.
• Formal haemorrhoidectomy.
• Colectomy (right, segmental, left, sigmoid, subtotal).
• Formation of ileostomy, colostomy.
• Small and large bowel anastomosis.
• Flexible sigmoidoscopy.

Endocrine:

• Thyroidectomy
• Parathyroidectomy

Vascular:

• Femoral embolectomy.
• Varicose vein surgery.
